Getting a guest post accepted and getting one that survives are different achievements. Sites prune. Editors change. Archives get audited, and the first thing an incoming editor deletes is contributed content that reads like it was placed rather than commissioned.

A link on a deleted page is worth nothing, and it takes eighteen months to find out. So the standard is not acceptance — it is still being there when someone eventually looks.

The single strongest protection is that the piece contains something unavailable elsewhere. Aggregate data from the client's own operations, a documented failure, a process nobody publishes. A piece assembled from what is already ranking is the first thing cut, because nothing is lost by cutting it.

If a competent writer with a search engine could have produced your piece, it has no defence when the archive gets audited.

One link, placed where a reader genuinely benefits from following it, pointing at something that answers the question the sentence raises. If the honest place for it is a resource page rather than a product page, it goes to the resource page — a link that gets removed in the edit was worth zero anyway.

• One link, not three. Three signals a transaction and invites the editor to cut all of them.
• Deep, not homepage. A homepage link in a specific argument is a tell.
• In the body, not the bio. Bio links are widely discounted and both parties know it.
• Anchored on the sentence's own words. If the anchor needed engineering, the placement is wrong.

Read three recent pieces and note the structural habits — heading density, paragraph length, whether they use first person, whether they open with an anecdote. A piece that reads like the site wrote it does not get flagged as contributed, and the pieces that get flagged are the pieces that get pruned.

Deliver at the requested length, formatted the way the site formats, with sources linked and any claim checkable. Editors remember who costs them nothing, and the second placement is always easier than the first — that is the actual compounding asset in guest posting.
